AMAGNIT 601 Non-magnetic Steel
What is AMAGNIT 601?
Amagnit 601 are chromium manganese austenitic low carbon alloy steels obtained by VOD process, and rotary hammer warm forging process combining chemical analysis and temperature / time cycle.
Amagnit 601 are resistant to stress corrosion cracking with high mechanical properties, low magnetic permeability and no tendency to galling.
The AMAGNIT 601 is forged and available in round steel bar in the peeled + drilled. The AMAGNIT 601 was melted in an electric arc furnace and can also be supplied as an ESR.
Application of AMAGNIT 601
Design for most drill string components such as drill collars, MWD and LWD housings, compressive service drill pipe (flex collars) subs, stabilisers, etc. this material meets the stringent requirements of today’s drilling and directional drilling industry.

Corrosion Resistance of AMAGNIT 601
The structure is austenitic, free of ferrite and precipitation at the grain boundary. The susceptibility to intergranular attack is carried out according to ASTM A 262 practice E. No intergranular cracks should be detected. Each bar is tested.
Amagnit 601 has passed all the main corrosion tests in chloride solutions imposed by the Directional Drilling Companies:
- Constant Load tests
- Slow Strain Rate Tests
- C Ring Tests to ASTM G 36 / G 38
- Pitting Corrosion
A compressive layer is applied to the bore of the collars to increase the resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
